Tasting Room Associate - Barbara Stauder
Strike up a conversation with Barbara and you'll feel like you've known her forever - and you're sure to make a new friend. Barb was born in New York and grew up in Miami. She is a former flight attendant and, as you can probably guess, Barb loves to travel in her spare time. She and her husband have lived in wine country for the past 13+ years and she's worked in the wine industry the past 6 (most recently at Cline Cellars) before joining our team in 2019.

Tasting Room Manager - Jessica Saldana
You'll be greeted with a warm and infectious smile and welcomed into our tasting room by Jessica. She started her wine career with Naked Wines and then moved onto PureCru Napa Valley as a tasting room associate. When we joined the "Wines on First" tasting collective in Napa, Jessica was part of the tasting room team and when we decided to open our own tasting room at the Sonoma Plaza, we knew she was the right person to lead our team. We've now left the Sonoma Plaza location and opened a brand new tasting room in Napa on Atlas Peak Road - where Jessica will continue to lead the team.
Jessica is a life-long Oakland A's fan and is an awesome mom to her son (Maddox), her partner in life (Cameron) and Lilah (her new dog). She leads a strong team that will share their knowledge of our wines and love of wine country with you - all in a relaxed and inviting setting.
Winemaker - Kian Tavakoli
Kian is a graduate of UC Davis and has nearly 30 years of winemaking experience. He started his career with Opus One where he spent four years and then moved on to become assistant winemaker for Clos du Val. Moving up, Kian then became head winemaker for their cabernet sauvignon reserve program. In 2004, Kian left to start his own wine consultancy company and it was perfect timing as we were forming Jean Edwards Cellars - and Kian has been with us ever since.
A humble, yet very accomplished winemaker with an exceptional palate, in 2017 and 2018 Kian was named by Napa Valley Life Magazine as one of the "top 3 winemakers in Napa Valley" and was a finalist for this honor once again in 2020.
When Kian is not busy in the winery or vineyards, he is actively involved with the Napa Valley Swim Team (along with his wife and 3 children). Kian is also a martial arts black belt and an avid Star Wars fan.
We're proud to call Kian our winemaker, friend and colleague.
About Us ...
Owners - Karen and John Troisi
We're the owners of Jean Edwards Cellars. Like many of you, we regularly visited Wine Country and fell in love wit the beauty of Napa Valley - not to mention the wines. We started Jean Edwards Cellars in 2004 with one wine - our Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from the Pritchard Hill Region of the vineyard. That wine caught the attention of Wine Spectator Magazine and they named us as "one of twenty new cabernet producers to watch" in their annual cabernet issue - quite an honor for us. At the time we were both still working in the corporate world - John's background is in R&D and Operations; Karen's is in Sales and Marketing.
Fast forward to now, we've left the corporate world behind and while our case production is still small (about 800-850 cases per year) we've added new and exciting wines to our portfolio from some of Napa's most prestigious growers, vineyards and blocks. We now produce about 10 wines each vintage under two different labels (Jean Edwards Cellars and Cooper's Cuvee Blackpaw) and the wines include multiple cabernet sauvignons, malbec, merlot, petite sirah, syrah, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and rose'.
We take great pride in our wines and in our customer service and we are honored that our wines have been consistently well received and enjoyed by both consumers and industry professionals. We've come a long way since the release of our first wine and look forward to producing many new vintages of new and exciting wines.
Often asked "what's the Jean Edwards style of wine"? Our reply (with a wink and a smile) "wines that will pair well with food... wines that you will want to open and share with good friends... but you'll want to keep to bottle at your end of the table" .
We hope you enjoy our wines for many years to come and if your travels take you to Napa please let us know - we'd love to share some with with you!
