Our Wines ...
From tiny berries... come great wines...
Stagecoach Vineyard ® Cabernet Sauvignon
Our flagship wine, our fruit comes from a premium vineyard block located within the Pritchard Hill Region of the vineyard, a sweet spot for cabernet sauvignon with it's marine influence and volcanic red rock soils. The fruit is ripe, bold and concentrated.
This wine has consistently received high accolades for us from the critics. Our newest release (2017) was rated 94 points by James Suckling and was selected to his "Top 10 List of Napa Cabs under $100". The wine exhibits lovely blue fruit with currants and crushed raspberries on the nose. The wine is medium to full body, Firm and chewy tannins with lots of raspberry and blueberry character on the finish.
Yates Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Mt. Veeder)
Located at the end of Redwood Road, this steeply sloping, high elevation vineyard produces wines of great depth, polish and balance. Our Yates Cabernet is more old world in style than our other cabernets - with hints of floral notes and earthiness.
Our newest release (2017) was rated 93 points by James Suckling."Aromas of blueberries and blackberries with hints of spice follow through to a full body, firm tannins and a chewy finish. Shows focus and brightness."
Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon
From the heart of the Rutherford Bench, this wine comes from an historic vineyard that is planted exclusively to cabernet sauvignon. Contractually, we do not use the vineyard name so that we can keep our pricing down for this wine - which makes it a genuine bargain to it's peer group.
Our newest release (2017) was rated 91 points by the Connoisseur's Guide to California Wine. "Keyed largely on fresh loam and woodsy spice with a background suggestion of espresso on first nosing but very quickly turning to deep, very solidly varietal black currant fruit. This big, broad-shouldered, sturdily built cabernet is an immensely flavorful example with extract and stuffing to spare. It is not overdone or in any way derailed by overly obvious ripeness nor do its ample tannins occlude its amazingly persistent fruit. We suspect that even those whose tastes run to wines that are more scaled back in richness will see their reservations go by the wayside when this one is poured as a partner to a generous cut of well-marbled prime rib roast."
Seventy Four - Forty One Cabernet Sauvignon
We pay homage to our east coast roots by naming this wine "74-41" representing the coordinates of our New Jersey residence. This wine is produced as a wine club offering (contact us for availability). The wine is a combination of multiple cabernet vineyards - mountain and valley floor.
Our 2017 74-41 cabernet is 100% cabernet sauvignon from a combination of 3 vineyards. The wine is a stunning dark purple in the glass with ruby hues. Black and blue fruits are followed by whiffs of tobacco in the nose. The mouth is nicely layered - dark black and red fruit, cassis, cola and currants. It coats the mouth and the finish is long.
Malbec - Rutherford
Our malbec fruit comes from Melrose Vineyard located on the northern portion of Rutherford. For many vintages, we have used this malbec as a blending component in some of our cabernet wines - we realized how special it really is and decided in 2015 it deserved its own bottling. We love the dense, dark fruit profile we get from this vineyard.
Our newest release (2017) was rated 91 points by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. "Deep garnet-purple colored. It comes bounding out of the glass with exuberant scents of black forest cake, blueberry pie and preserved plum - plus wafts of cinnamon stick, potpourri and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate has a firm, grainy textured backbone with nice bright fruit and a spicy finish."
Merlot - Oak Knoll
From Orchard Avenue Vineyard located on the valley floor in the shadows of the Mayacamus Mountains - this vineyard sees less direct sun and heat than many, which leads to late-ripening and prolonged hangtimes. This vineyard is always one of our last to harvest each vintage.
The wine is deep garnet with purple undertones. The expressive nose opens with baked plums, hints of spice cake, herbs and dried roses. The medium-to-full palate offers an array of dark red berry fruit, currants, earth and spice along with soft dusty tannins on the medium-long finish. This is a cab drinker's merlot. Not yet rated.
Philary Vineyard - Syrah (Atlas Peak)
Owned by growers Phil and Hilary Brodey, Philary Vineyard is located high on the slopes of Atlas Peak nearly 1000 feet above sea level. This deeply sloped, south-west facing vineyard gets plenty of sunshine for the vines planted in rocky, volcanic soils - everything in this vineyard is done by hand due to the nature of the property. This is a tiny vineyard by Napa standards, with three blocks producing only about a ton of fruit collectively each vintage.
2018 will make our first release of syrah from Philary Vineyard - stay tuned for updates and more information on the wine.
Dalla Gasperina Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc (Rutherford)
Located on Galleron Road at the northern end of Rutherford, this organic vineyard produces wines of great character and depth. We've been producing sauvignon blanc from this vineyard since 2014 and are just hitting our stride with it. Not yet rated, we think our 2019 is our best to-date and hope you do also. Our style is more French-influenced with softer tropicals and richness.
Our 2019 sauv blanc is pale straw in the glass with notes of orange blossoms, apricots and tropical notes. The palate is fresh, clean and vibrant with Mandarin orange, citrus and hints of minerality leading to a long finish. The splash of semillon adds a richness to the mid-palate and a touch of acidity keeps the wine in balance. This is a perfect pairing with seared scallops, crab cakes or just sipping. Not yet rated.
Gold Coast Vineyard Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast)
Gold Coast Vineyard is located at the southern end of the Sonoma Coast AVA in the rolling hills overlooking the San Pablo Bay. This vineyard is marine-influenced with gentle, on-shore breezes throughout the day. It is first to receive the fog rolling in each evening and one of the last to see it retreat in late-morning. This provides for exceptionally long hang-time with fully developed flavors - this vineyard is one of the last we pick each vintage. Our style is Burgundian-inspired.
Our 2018 vintage is light gold in the glass. The mouth is round and full-bodied with tiers of apple pie, honeydew and pears. A well-balanced wine of dimension and complexity. Not yet rated.
Cooper's Cuvee Wines
Many of you know we are dog lovers and our wines honor our labrador retrievers. Cooper is our black lab and comes from a line of show dogs. He's a diva and spoiled rotten - and demanded his own line of wines. He personally "pawtographs" each bottle with his black paw.
Cooper's Cuvee Blackpaw - Petite Sirah (Chalk Hill)
From Windsor Oak's Vineyard located in the Chalk Hill Ava (which is part of the larger Russian River Valley AVA) in Sonoma County. Chalk Hill is named for it's unique white ash volcanic soil. While the Russian River Valley is known for its cooler climate, this area is several degrees warmer
Our 2017 petite sirah is purple in the glass. The nose is full with dark black fruit, along with earth and spice. The mouth is round with lush blackberry, boysenberry, hints of cinnamon and refined tannins. Our petite sirah is a balance and polished style so you won't have to wait 10-15 years to open a bottle. Great with grilled meats and veggies! Not yet rated.
Cooper's Cuvee Red Collar Rose' (Napa Valley)
Our first rose' offering is rose' of cabernet sauvignon from two outstanding cabernet sauvignon vineyards (Stagecoach and Rutherford G3). Produced using the saignee' method, at harvest we removed a portion of the red juice that has been in contact with the skins. The two rose' lots are then aged separately in small vats, and blended before bottling. The saignee' method produces a bigger, bolder and darker rose' style of wine that fits perfectly with the Jean Edwards Cellars style of wine. While this wine reminds us of "summer in a glass" you'll drink this one year-round as it's no whimpy rose'.
The 2019 Red Collar Rose' is medium-pink with salmon undertones in the glass. The nose is strawberry, rose petal, honeydew and lychee nuts. the mouth is clean and vibrant - filling the mouth with berries and pomegranate. Extremely limited - not rated.
