2016 Yates Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Mt. Veeder)
James Suckling 94 points
Located on Redwood Road, Yates Family Vineyard is a family-owned vineyard located at the very top of Mt. Veeder. This high elevation vineyard produces wines of great depth, polish and balance. If you enjoy Bordeaux-style wines, this cabernet is the one for you.
The 2016 Yates Cabernet Sauvignon is dark garnet with just a slight hint of purple. The nose is blue fruit, blueberries and cassis with a thread of florals, ad hints of cocoa powder. In the mouth the wine expresses a succulent, plush and juicy array of plums and black cherries over a backdrop of toasted oak, cassis, earth and spice. The wine finishes in balance with length and grace. Cabernet Sauvignon with splashes of Merlot (Orchard Avenue/Oak Knoll) and Cabernet Frank (Mt. Veeder). Aged 22 months in French Oak (75% new).
